Corks + Caftans

Moon river.

So, this is only partially serious. But fun anyway.

Pretty hilar that the day it’s like 90 billion degrees is the one time I really have to book it on my bicycle to lunch, for which I was 10 minutes late. No, wait—it’s not funny at all. It’s my life.

[It’s starting to look more and more like I’m missing a tooth. I assure you, it’s just crooked. Time to make that phone call I’ve been practicing for two years: “Uh, you do Invisalign, right?”]

This overdose of Burbs plaid was born of a singular impulse. I read that The Whitney Gala here in Saratoga on Friday will be Breakfast at Tiffany’s-themed! Sounds fun. So since I can’t make it, I did my own rainy day iteration for 2010. Although I could poss. drink 4 scotches, get the mean reds and crash the party screaming, “Caht! CAHT! Cat.”

One day I will own a Burberry trench! I must! It’s truly fabulous. And I must say, Invisalign has been the best investment ever. Only a few more months to go, and the change is remarkable!

No way… that is great to hear! My mom just finished it and it totally transformed her. And she needed a lot of movement. I had one guy tell me once I was too bad for it, but seriously… they’re not actually that bad, just awkward. It’s more my bite. I have a cross bite, which causes my teeth to wear together. OW. I was a retainer-wearin’ fool when I was a kid. Never did braces though. Not about to start. Invisalign it is! I’ve been saving for it subconsciously…

    JEALOUS 🙂

Obviously Breakfast at Tiffanys is actually the most phenomenal film ever produced…and I would like very much to attend that Gala.

Holly Golightly (and Miss Hepburn myself) are my heros. I account all of my finer qualities (besides to the parentals) to her…as I channel that film every single day. I imagine that is also where my penchant for typewriters originated from…and tendency to act nonchalant.

Crazy story…one day…years ago…I went to that favorite thrift store of mine (conveniently .5 mile from my house) and what was there waiting for me…a Burberry trench. It was made for a rather buxom and built (i.e. large) woman so it drowned me. But for the mere price of $8 i figured with a bit of tailoring it would be super worth it.

Ive already had it taken in on the sides as much as possible..but the sleeves still require a bit of liposuction and thats the next step.

Needless to say that is a perfect perfect piece you’ve got in your possession and feel as much like Miss Moss or Holly or whoever as you’d like.

Just imagine if everybody in the world channeled Holly Golightly…what a lovely and fanciful place we’d live in.

    xx

I must know if you picked up that trench at the Manchester Burberry outlet? Did you know that it closed!? I was there a couple weeks ago sooo excited to hit it up and it was gone!

I know, what a total bummer. I actually got this in college from ebay. It was pretty old but I ordered new leather buckles from Burberry. I’m thinking of getting it hemmed… just so it’s more knee-length. No idea though. If I remember, it was about $135. Not a bad deal!

imagine if you will…a visit from my ex-boyfriend approximately one year ago. he is a very good looking transplant doctor in LA. and i was ecstatic to see him. i met him at the fairmont where we would then go for dinner. he came down the lobby stairs in an impeccable prada suit. my thoughts? good lord, why the f$%k did i let him go? kicking myself, i ran over, hugged him and quickly pulled away because i noticed just before the embrace a little bling. yep. braces. not clear. not invisalign. full on metal braces. and he’s 37. and then…throughout dinner, a piece of steak found a new home. i couldn’t bring myself to say, “hey, you know those braces you haven’t told me about? yeah, your filet is caught in your left incisor.”
