Corks + Caftans

Don’t think twice, it’s all right.

The brilliant David Gahan of Depeche Mode once said: “I still hold on to the idea that a record can really change the way I feel.” If that’s true—and I believe it is—I probably shouldn’t have listened exclusively to Bob Dylan during a week wrought with melancholy and self-reflection. Like sticking two Rolos in your nose while chewing on a Twix. But moderation has never been my strong suit!

If you’re around RVA, you probably noted that one of the Barrel Thief wine shops closed last weekend. Even though it’s all for the best, I get the blues with businesses closing. [Don’t think twice; it’s all right.] But being there first-hand during the process was a bummer of epic proportions, and not one of us involved wasn’t drifting from the blues to the mean reds by weeks’ end.

But here’s to travelling on. I’m hoping the store that lives on will get really beefy, like Homer’s left bicep when he bought that one dumbell and could only curl one arm.

The fig tree out back at the new pad yielded a monster harvest this year, my jam pot boiling over with an amateur’s enthusiasm until roughly 2am one night. I was feeling homegrown and happy until I noted the backyard ants had spread word to half the Fan ant population that mushy treasures abounded in these parts, and all of ’em—with little ant hobo packs and little whistling ant lips—have taken to swarming fallen figs black all over our deck. And I keep steppin’ on ’em.

Hey—gave us a reason to explore the front porch for a change, see? Don’t think twice—it’s all right!

Y’all, summer’s so good.

Mick and Keith summing up Rob’s and my general approach to behavior lately. Even when we get invited for dinner at neighbor’s houses, but only when they’re not looking. That’s Rob on the left, though, because I don’t wear undies like that.

Don’t think twice, it’s all right.

Bummer to hear the news, but I know things will turn out a-ok. 😉 Btw, not sure if it’s the color, or the lighting but I am totally loving your face in these photos! (not that I don’t always) 🙂
