Corks + Caftans

Corks, caftans, and ‘copters.

September 4, 2012 3 Comments

In case you haven’t noticed, Carey secretly, or not so secretly, wishes she was at least partly Native American. Embracing feathers, tassels, moccasins, turquoise, and  furry cuffs has no longer been enough lately—she explained this to me on a bike ride. We are even preparing to construct a tipi in our living room. So I asked her if she knew that Native American names and references have forever been used in naming our nation’s most elite war birds—one of the first times our interests merged so seamlessly.

We named as many as we could on the final stretch of our ride… pulling into the garage with a resounding, “Chinook!”

Enjoy equal parts appropriation and pure badass.

[Apache.]

[Comanche.]

[SM-64 Navaho missile.]

[Seminole.]

 [Warhawk.]

[Bell Sioux.]

[Choctaw.]

[Mojave.]

[Chinook.]

[Cheyenne.]

[Kiowa.]

[Lakota.]

[Wichita.]

This is amazing:

[Cayuse.]

[Mohawk.]

Look at all those beautiful birds.

Chinook is a type of Salmon. I’m greatly amused by the the fact that you’re running around basically yelling “fish!” and that there is a flying fish helicopter.
