Wanderlust Festival Weekend: Andrew Bird and a gong circle collide.

July 8, 2011 2 Comments

We made it. A change in elevation, a change in latitude, and a change in attitude. 600 miles in a big ass truck with a nervous cat and a career change on the horizon; it’s been a stressful week. We’re still waiting on Internet hook-up (one more day) so the library (pronounced ‘Li-berry’) it is. It’s just me, the very young and the very old. Two generations are no longer in need of such a facility—unless they’re waiting on Verizon of course. We love our new city but long for our friends up north. Here’s to two of them and one of our last adventures in VT. More coming soon—it’s good to be back!

[Andrew Bird performing solo, but so much more than solo, at Wanderlust 2011, Stratton Mountain, Bondville, VT.]

[Carey, Bryan and KC getting a taste of the gong while I lurk in the shadows]

[Embrace.]

[I tried to convince Carey to get with the program and lose her shoes. Looking unconvinced, I explained that while humans weren’t intended to be constrained by footwear in the summer, drinking beer out of plastic cups is perfectly acceptable. Hippies are adorable.]

[“When the hell is this guy going to shut up so we can hear music, he makes no sense and I’m not on peyote. Is anybody actually buying this shit” -Rob’s thoughts in regards to some spiritual speaker, his name alludes me at the moment.]

[This is labeled the male gong, because you are only allowed to strike it with a salami]

[Drinks at the Equinox—a mild degree of pregaming]

[Bryan playing Ken (who was badly out of tune after the long journey, but is now leaning safely against the wall in our new living room)]

Thanks for not abandoning us during our absence!

-Rob.

Did I tell you that I had a conversation with an acquaintance who knows said spiritual guru? Direct quote: “He’s only in it for the money.”
