Corks + Caftans

Bespoke loss.

December 17, 2015 Leave a Comment

Sometimes, things kick the bucket.

We lose jobs. Friends. Lovers. Arguments. Our figures. The ability to turn heads on the street any longer. Confidence. Money. Plants.

While there may not be much choice in this matter, I have landed on one. Because as I was taking inventory of all my loss recently, I sat across from a friend at lunch and took inventory of hers. And I thought, I could never be strong enough to sustain that loss. Mine, I can handle. Mine, it was designed for me.

I decided to choose my own loss over others’ losses. Because mine was tailor-made for me. It’s got some weird purpose, like a card in your wallet you’ve almost taken out 100 times but never know when I might need.

One day, I’ll reach into my jacket pocket, pull out my wallet, and thank Buddha that card was still there.
