Well, that happened fast. I need to post more, clearly.
Lots of reasons to get out and be outside consuming food and drink in RVA this fall! Including:
- Bloody Bash (above). What a delicious slice of debaucherous day drinking! That’s me and Woody, he’s a Richmond social staple, and always a delight to run into. Really. Plus, Chad has this tradition where he takes a picture with the same woman every year, so I had to start one of my own. This is year two.
- Blue Bee Cider’s grand opening in Scott’s Addition! That area is quickly becoming the best place to tie one on, guys. Cider, breweries, rooftop parties, boots of beer at brunch—g.d. It’s a gorgeous outdoor setting in renovated old stables—like, someone have a wedding here, stat.
- The Shell-Raiser’s Shindig! To raise money for the Virginia Oyster Shell Recycling Program, a bunch of awesome oyster purveyors, breweries and restaurants got under a tent on the most spectacular fall day of food, music, and gracefully tilting oysters down your throat around trash cans.
- Ballast Point tap takeover at Boulevard Burger & Brew. And an unofficial farewell to a pal of ours who took off to Europe for a month. I went a little Ballast Point-bonkers in the following weeks; see below.

[A little tasting flight at BB & B.]

[Left, Pumking, so delicious. Like pie. And right, Mocha Marlin, totally suitable for breakfast. The label says so.]
Here’s a quick vid Chad shot of the opening weekend at Blue Bee:
