Murphy, Rob and I had the most lovely weekend visiting the parents up in the mountains. We ate, we wined, we sat in the sun and read books, we hiked up the mountain, spied bullfrogs and snakes, and took 3 amazing rides down the Alpine Slide. After our second ride I said to Murph, “That just took 3 years off my life.” She said, “Most fun I’ve had in years.”
[Walking around the pond. Many a lazy bullfrog on her banks, one of which told me to “take a picture, it’ll last longer.” No, I swear, he did.]

[Always having a giggle…. and you can watch this for video proof.]

There’s something about taking your hand off of the proverbial brake and just letting yourself fly. I rarely do it anymore. Enough with the caution mumbo-jumbo; just let go and take off. Everything new feels like an Alpine Slide when you’re a little kid. It woke something up inside.
I haven’t felt that good in awhile, either.
[We huffed our way up the mountain. It was worth it, with the breezes and sunshine and views.]

[The old duck boots I got freshman year of college came along for the trip.]

[The Zip Line, which we opted out of. Something to do with harnesses and flatulence.]

[Me, approaching the finish of the Alpine Slide.]

[One happy little speed demon right here. She smoked down in half the time I did.]

Weekends like this recharge my soul. And they feel long. Which is pretty priceless these days.

I love Vermont! This sounds like so much fun.
Those weekends are the best! Your comment about duck boots made me smile – I remember how excited I was about buying duck boots during the first snow at Hollins.
I love alpine slides. It reminds me of going to the mountains with my dad when I was little. He always took me and my brothers to Ober Gatlinburg to go alpine sliding. Looks like you had a good time!
