Corks + Caftans

Scenes from a Nantucket wine store

October 24, 2009 Leave a Comment

After a beer with our favorite Nantucket photographer, I pulled Carey through the doors of Murray’s Liquor Store. There seem to be a lot of wealthy people on this island, so the wine stores tend to be pretty good—even if I can’t buy much, it’s still fun to browse through the great California Cabernets zip-tied to the racks.

Me counting the number of wines from Ridge I've had. 1.

Hey I just wrote about this wine. The owner of D.B. has a place on the island.

The one bottle I bought. I found the reserve in the next shop for 20% off and I bought that too. I also bought a hanging antique butcher hook scale from the Loire region of France, ahem.

I took this for Carey!

Stag's Leap to the right, Silver Oak to the left.

There is much more wine talk to come. There is a lot of great juice stranded out here on this island and Carey and I are going to rescue as much of it as possible.
