“In memory, we still shall be…”

December 1, 2009 7 Comments

“…at dear old U-Va!” Sorry; last Virginia post, guys.

Gameday… sad loss v. Virginia Tech, but the weather was stunning and the Bloody Mary’s were perfection.

[Lessons in tailgating in style: Rob channels the Wodehouse way in Gucci loafers, khakis, and some Wayfarers.]

This was right before a man approached me and asked me where I got my sweater, because, “my wife wants one.” This was one of those times I wish I had a C+C business card. I showed him the tag and and we clinked cups before they filed back into the mass exodus of people pouring through the parking lot.

[We led the band into the stadium. Sort of.]

[On the Lawn: my DVF scarf doubled as my ‘Hoos team spirit for the day.]

We were lucky enough to accompany H+C up to a skybox…  booyah! The last time I was in a box at a UVA game, I was about 10 years old, it was the President’s Box, and I met Bruce Hornsby and Woody Harrelson. Pretty sweet.

[Skybox luxuries: red wine in stadium cups.]

Incredible day.

I should try going to a Jets game in that ‘fit. I would probably be found jacked up on cinder blocks, ass kicked and shoes missing.

Carey – is the sweater the DKNY Cozy? Where did you get it? I am dying for it for xmas but am struggling with the cost. Know any good places online to get it?
P.S. Loving this blog since I was introduced to it on All over Albany!

thanks for the sweet words! It is indeed the Cozy… and it is worth every penny. I got 3 (black, brown, and white) and rarely leave the house without it, and I don’t even know how to tie it! It will be the best investment for your wardrobe. Also, I’ve seen TONS on ebay at great prices. They are popular, so don’t expect to see many under $100. Check Bloomingdales and net-a-porter.com to start. Good luck! 🙂

Is it worth paying more for the cashmere over the merino wool?? They both look great in photos. I’m dying for the cashmere in the soft grey….

Actually, yes. Or go with both. Funny, all 3 of mine are different—the brown wool one has a much thicker knit, the sleeves are a different variation of knit than the body, it’s heavy and bulky (looks best just hanging down) and is hot as hades. Stretches out like a wool sweater. Great for cool weather. The black merino wool is thin, smooth, ideal for all the wrapping options, and I can wear it even when it’s not too chilly. Clings more, has great give. The white cashmere one is my favorite, and I can wear it when it’s 65-70 degrees out, no problem. It’s a much more open knit—the sleeves are almost sheer. The body is a tighter knit, a lot like a blanket, super soft, and more elegant than the other two. I’d say the merino is way more like a “top,” the others are like outerwear.
