Corks + Caftans

Cocktails at Ideya in SoHo.

[Guava mojitos + caipirinhas + favorite Missoni caftan.]

Happy to have escaped the conference with our moods and senses of humor intact (just read this tweet I sent out prior to our departure), we spent a few lucky minutes with our pal K. Campbell at Ideya, testing out delicious drinks before sending her off to dinner at Bread with friends. We’ve been here before for dinner with our friends Matt and Matt, and just happened to be around the corner. Nothing like a little familiarity in the big glitty.

You can’t go wrong with a single thing on this drink menu—and if I am an adequate critic of anything restaurant-related, it’s the damned drink menu. They stay true to their roots while taking delightful departures into fruity turns that make you utter those dangerous words: “I can’t even taste alcohol.”

I’d tried the mango and banana mojitos before, but knocked it out of the bloody park this time with a guava mojito that made the blood coursing through my veins turn momentarily into chimichurri.

[Rob + some Pinot Noir.]

[I look like Kristin just told me she thinks my shawl is ugly…]

[…while Kristin looks like I just told her how much it cost.]

I won’t even get into the fried plantains and amazing dishes to be had here. And another great part? You can tie one on then head down the block to What Comes Around Goes Around and ogle the $400 vintage t-shirts, studded Chucks, and crusty cowboy boots. Too many mojitos, though, and you might make them yours; don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Good to know. I am always looking for a good spot in the City. Totally jealous of your Missoni by the way.

Robin, it’s incredible! Such friendly people, too. Oh and that Missoni is a total ebay score (still mind-boggling expensive, but better than retail). I’d stalked it on Saks for 8 months then took the bidding plunge one night after tons of wine. It has many pulls from Eli’s kittenhood. Still need to respond to your incredible comment from yesterday! As always, I heart you.

Ha, ha! You totally crack me up with those captions of you and your friend. LOVE mojitos! They are my favorite! And will be our signature drink at the wedding! That banana one sounds delish! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ha Ha, I was so embarrassed after reading it back to myself. I felt like I just rambled. But I heart you too..

I tell you what I would really like to get if I was 15 years younger and had your legs. Those Missoni shorts on shopbop. Totally affordable as Missoni goes.

Elena, you should try a berry mojito or a mojito martini. I had both while on vacation last month and am totally hooked!

I live two blocks from there and have never noticed this little gem! Will have to check in ASAP for a mojito.

It’s 10:30am and I officially have a serious hankering for one already. Problematic? Meh.

I commend you on your AM thirst. It’s the sign of a true woman of the world.

Seriously, you’ve never noticed it!? It’s so outstanding! Great place to get a group together and order a ton of things to try everything. Unreal. Report back! (Oh, and, jealous of your ‘hood. My favorite part of the city, by far!)
